I agree with you, but would just like to point out that I find taking the perspective that this life could be a dream a spiritual exercise in itself. It is one of the ways lucid dreaming gives existential perspective, which I relate with "spiritual growth".
第 92 楼 ·
Do you believe in spirituality at all? And if so, what does it mean to you?
第 93 楼 ·
Yes, anything that "happens" can't be considered "supernatural". But OP also says it's "just biology" which is a bit of an understatement, as far as the brain's biological performance, lucid dreaming is one of the least understood, most interesting, most out of line with normal biology. Yes, technically everything in the universe is "just biology" or "just chemistry" or "just physics", but saying that shouldn't be a reason to set aside an area of study because there is no mystery. I think that's the key take away here. Yes it's just biology but it's poorly understood biology with lots of mystery. This is more of a reason to study it, not a reason to not worry about it.

I simply have an open mind. You think your brain actually knows anything relevant to the truth... if anything we are fish Trapped in a fish bowl.. we can only know so much and anything else is skepticism, belief, and only what we can understand with our minds.. there is a mind greater than ours, and I'm sure billions of galaxies can prove that fact

"Intelligence is to know what to say. Wisdom is to know when to say it." Something you may need to start practicing because your post and comments seem bitter to a degree. I don't know what it is that you are dealing with inside, or if you even really know, but, work on it. Like i said before "Peace comes from within. Do no seek it without." and "He who looks outside, dreams. He who looks inside, awakes."
第 96 楼 ·
I find it funny how many times you've called others bitter in this thread while you continue to ridicule anyone with another perspective.Lower your ego...open your mind...listen wholeheartedly... You might learn something.
第 97 楼 ·
you keep stating "evidence" but multiple studies show that Agnostics tend to have higher IQ's than both atheists and theists. And for multiple reasons. Just thought that as an interesting little bit to tell you.
第 98 楼 ·
And how is it not? Look around you and see the beauty in everything that exists. Just because we like to come up with explanations of how the world works doesn't make it any less of a miracle.
第 99 楼 ·
u see that "/s" on the bottom? that's supposed to indicate sarcasm.

If neurons are firing in your brain, then you are going to experience something. Thus its safe to say that dreaming is the result of such said neurons firing. On the flip side, there is NOTHING to suggest this is a spirit world or a supernatural affair. As for why we dream, that is not the same thing as what causes it.
第 101 楼 ·
Thank you for that. I am an agnostic and believe there are many mysteries we cannot pin down. To believe purely in materialism or blindly in religion or fluffy new age stuff both seem foolish to me.
第 102 楼 ·
which part of the brain does meditation find?
第 103 楼 ·
The whole left-brain right-brain thing is bunk.
楼主第 104 楼 ·
You are not helping anyone by spouting some silly nonsense and telling people to mediate. This is science, not spirituality. You are not thinking with any part of your brain. There is no shadow people, this is not some spiritual plan, all evidence and common sense says this is just straight up biology of the brain.
楼主第 105 楼 ·
You would be a poor guesser. I am not your age.

But there is no evidence to support that is true, without it, we have to go on the evidence we have, that is just our minds playing tricks on us when we fall asleep.
楼主第 109 楼 ·
is it?
楼主第 110 楼 ·
Magic and science?Or biology and science?Well I guess if magic is real then it would be a form of science, but is magic real? I Have not found any evidence of it, no matter where I look, unless you are to suggest everything is "like magic".
楼主第 111 楼 ·
The evidence we have, suggests that reality is much like a dream. Quantum physics and our knowledge of reality say that life is like a dream, our mind makes the world around us.But I don't see how any of this is spiritual in nature, just science. Nothing I see has suggested anything about souls, or god, or heaven or hell, or demons, or angles. Those are things that people call spiritual, metaphysical, this seems more science, then spiritual.
楼主第 112 楼 ·
I don't know if I believe in it, not really I suppose... Spirituality means to me believing or recognition of some higher power, or meaning in the world regarding a higher power or alternative to what we recognize as real life, in relation to ourselves. (angles, god, spirits, astral projection, alternative existences, ect)But I do not see any of that, or an evidence of that, in Lucid Dreaming. Nor have I ever experienced anything spiritual in regards to lucid dreaming, only a recognition of new ability's our biology has, in connection to what we knew about it already, a form of scientific discovery about what our biology is capable of, and our consciousness. Science yes, but not spirituality.
第 113 楼 ·
There is definitely a reason to study it, just as there is with any other naturally occurring thing. My only point is that LD is not supernatural or paranormal, as way too many people think it is.
楼主第 114 楼 ·
You don't seem to care much about evidence. All evidence points to lucid dreaming being a natural phenomena that has to due with the biology of our brains, with that said, LD's are not some supernatural spirit world filled with angles and demons from heaven and hell, and shadow people are just our brains calling up images to trick us into sleep or are caused by such said tricks.

I did not know that.

Nothing you said proves anything though. Neurons is a cell used to transmit information, Who's to say where the information its coming from, wether a source we can't pick up on, or ourself. The fact is you don't know. As for why we dream, yeah its not the same buts its another huge question related to lucid dreaming that we don't have answers to, probably the biggest question, which when answered could completely alter our view of dreaming. Im not saying your wrong at all but to say everyone else is when you don't know is just funny.
第 118 楼 ·
You should let the neurosciences know, they're all invested in the idea of hemispheric specialisation.
第 119 楼 ·
But why do we dream? Sure science is good but it doesn't answer everything. Your just being a dick who wants to tell everyone there wrong when you actually don't know. We hardly know anything about our brains or this reality we live in so stop acting like you know more than everyone else.
第 120 楼 ·
It doesn't make you smarter than other people to point out the materialistic nature of experience. You could make this same argument about anything spiritual, not just lucid dreaming visions. That doesn't make spirituality any less important to the people who experience it.There's more to life than science and explanation, not to even get into the philosophical (EDIT: and scientific) issues with "objective truth" (you ironically reference Newtonian physics, which is itself a very limited paradigm). Many esoteric traditions are ruined by rationalization. If somebody experiences something deeply personal that has little to no effect on the outside world, is it more "important" that their symbolic interpretation of it is shot down, or that they believe whatever they choose and be enriched by it?I am a 100% materialist btw, don't believe in God, angels, ghosts, visitors, any of it. It doesn't matter.
