> I hope you check out this new generation MacBook Pro, it really is an incredible system.Sounds like Trump.
第 32 楼 ·
It's a macbook PRO! We want power god damnit, screw the battery, everyone with a pro already uses it plugged 24/7
第 33 楼 ·
It's pretty simple. Apple does not care about professional users anymore. They think their "pro" users are still going to dish out top dollars for the MBP. I think this along with all the other extremely stupid decisions with the MBP is either going to kill off the MBP line or they're going to have to do a serious refresh again in 3 years when they release a new MBP.Also, I bought a laptop recently for $1500 that is actually more powerful than their top of the line MBP at $4500. I'm not even fucking exaggerating.Apple has always been a little stupid with some of their design choices and pricing in order to be "different". But they've taken it to a whole new level now.

MacBook "Pro" = MacBook Profit

Apple makes fashionable tech. Notice how the word fashionable is first. Remember, not better but just more fashionable.
第 36 楼 ·
It's really sad that the amount of RAM is only double the amount of a high-end flagship phone.
第 37 楼 ·
It is still not thin enough. I will not be satisfied until my gadgets fit between dimensions
第 38 楼 ·
If you're buying anything called "Pro", you should have more options, not less. And compromise isn't something you are generally worrying about.
第 39 楼 ·
You know nice thing about writing your own OS and building your own computers is that you could probably find a clever way to shut down the unneeded ram to save power.Or you could just compromise on core specs knowing your customers will still buy as long as the logo is still etched into the aluminum body somewhere.

Not a tech head or an Apple user, but in my wee brain, the thought occurred that paging back and forth between the SSD and the RAM would use more energy than having more RAM to start with. Could somebody please explain why my thoughts are wrong?
第 41 楼 ·
I maxed out the RAM on my 2011 MBP years back to 16 gig. It's already i7.So the only thing the new MBPs have for me is a slightly better processor, GFX card, and an SSD that I can also just swap myself into my 5 year old laptop. Oh, and it's replaced all my useful ports with ones I'm going to need to buy dongles to use with my shit...and there's a slightly darker colored version. Not feeling very inclined to drop almost 3k on a new laptop. :\

Jesus people, stop drinking the Apple juice already. You already pay $2500+ for a web-browsing Facebook machine all the while paying for obsolescence disguised as "features". Honestly, if you're still using Apple products after all this, you're simply a rube.

I seriously hope the market teaches Apple a lesson here and the sales of this more expensive non-upgrade are too low to even report. For fun, I watched the unveiling of the [original iPhone the other day](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vN4U5FqrOdQ), and what a difference from the Apple we have today. That device fucking *changed* shit, in a serious way. Today's Apple products and presentations are "ooooh, look how much sexier and slimmer this product is than the last generation!"No wonder Apple's revenues are declining. They can't even do incremental improvements correctly anymore....

Apple has completely given up trying to make computers for professionals. They now focus 100% on consumer products. Which is sad because all they have to do is take 0.01% of their profits to keep the Mac Pro line updated each year. They could even just open up the OS and let us install onto our own builds if they can't be bothered, but no, they prefer to just let them all sit and wait and hope that they will release a new machine. It's been nearly 4 years since the last Mac Pro was updated! Do they expect companies to just buy new of the same model is they want support?

I cut my fuel tank in half to get extra fuel economy.

apple computers, the consoles of PCs

Most people don't need 16, or more than 16, but it's utter garbage that that is where it stops. There's no explanation for that except "Apple wants you to discard your laptop as quickly as possible so you buy next generation too."

(in canada) spending $5,000 on a laptop that only has 16gb of ramlol.....
第 49 楼 ·
Isnt RAM like one of the least power consuming things in a PC? WTF?
第 50 楼 ·
I'm starting to think Apple is more interested in social experiments to see how much bullshit they can throw out to consumers before the consumer just says fuck it.
第 51 楼 ·
This is what happens when you favor form over function.
第 52 楼 ·
~£500 added to the base price of the next MBP... they are just trying to see what they can get away with now. And removing all the "standard" ports to then charge a fortune on adapters; even for their own phones!Absolutely beyond a joke. Definitely will *NOT* be purchasing any of it.
第 53 楼 ·
But its the emojis are what makes it a pro computer not the actual specs.

Crazy thing is back in 2012 all the engineers got a Thinkpad w520. We had 32gb of ram, 10 hr battery and 3 hard hard drives that were easily accessible. Nearly 4-5 years has passed and it still runs better than any of the new machines we get. We get sent new ones to try out. But some of the higher guys won't let them take their w520.We get sent new machines and models and I've tried almost all of them. The only thing faster is the pcie drives. But a lot of that is benchmarks, some users can't tell the difference. For some reason the vt-x or the default image we have on the w520 is amazing as we can run 10+ virtual machines without lag. I can't believe that 4-5 years later and they haven't come out with a better machine.
第 55 楼 ·
Well and the fact that the Intel chipset doesn't support 32GB of RAM. Even Apple execs BS constantly.
第 56 楼 ·
Tim Cook is really the Steve Ballmer of Apple.
第 57 楼 ·
The main issue for me isn't that they won't offer 32GB. It's that the 13" models start with 8GB and then charge $200 to upgrade to 16GB.
第 58 楼 ·
Can we just take a moment to appreciate that we live in a future so great that we can complain about having *only* 16GB RAM? My laptop in college had 512MB.
第 59 楼 ·
I could understand this logic in a consumer model (i.e. the Air or MacBook) but not the Pro model. Some professionals need 32 or even 64GB RAM these days in a laptop.

This thing is awful. Not enough performance coupled with a strange idea for touch. Why not just put in a touch screen and also the operating system to work with it? Most software developers I know use Macs. I have yet to see one excited about this unit. I think a lot of them will be switching to PCS with Linux.
